Quinte Sports Centre (2 Arenas)

The roots of the "Home Show", brought to you by the Quinte Home Builders' Association, run deep in the Quinte area. A small group of builders agreed to display their work to residents of this region more than 37 years ago. The show outgrew it's original home at the Quinte Mall and presently occupies the two arenas of the Quinte Sports Centre to their capacity. Visitors will be amazed at the quality and diversity of exhibits within.

General Information:

This year is a very special year for the Quinte Home Builders. 2009 marks our 50th anniversary as a local association. The center of the Wally Dever Arena will be home to the QHBA's booth, featuring an exciting new layout to get you thinking of spring. Here, you will find current information on what we do within the community as an association, as well as, have the chance to take a look back on what has happened over the past 50 years. Our booth was designed and constructed by Neil and Elaine Bouma of Picture Perfect Landscaping. Their booth is also at the center of the Wally Dever Arena, and I encourage you to visit them and let them know how great all of their hard work and effort looks.

This year's show once again filled up quickly with over 100 different exhibitors excited to show off all of what their businesses have to offer you. As well, we have a full lineup of inspiring and entertaining guest speakers and visitors covering all four days. To make sure you don't miss out on anything take advantage of the All Show Pass. For only $12.00 – that's less than the cost of buying a second ticket, this pass will give you unlimited entry into the show over the four days. For seniors the pass is only $10.00.

We have been very fortunate over the years for the amazing support of our members for a grand prize draw item. This year is no exception as every paid entry to the Home Show is also a ballot for the grand prize draw of a Lennox Elite Series Air Conditioner. This great unit has been generously donated by Terry Little from D & K Heating and Air Conditioning. With basic installation included (standard local), this prize has a retail value of over $4900! Many other exhibitors will also be providing in-booth draws for exciting prizes. Be sure to enter for your chance to win!!!

This year, the show opens Thursday March 26th with the ever popular Senior's Day, brought to you by the members of the Quinte Home Builder's Association. All seniors attending on Thursday will enjoy our special Senior's Day admission price of only $4.00.

Over Friday and Saturday, our stage area will be a buzz of information. For all of you gardeners and green thumbs at heart, the Upper Canada Chapter of Landscape Ontario has generously provided our show with an all star lineup of guest speakers featuring a number of on-air gardening personalties of past and present.

John Sillaots, Do-it-yourself expert, makes his return to our show with a great presentation on kitchen renovations. Leigh-Ann Allaire, designer for Benjamin Moore Paints, will be making her first ever stop to our show. You will get a first hand look at the colour trends for 2009, and get to hear about the many changes in the decorating world.

Football fans will be happy to hear that Brian Crawford from the Toronto Argonauts will be back on Saturday and Sunday along with a couple members of the Argo's Cheerleader squad courtesy of Rona Belleville. Visit the Rona booth to cheer on your favorite political member in the football toss challenge on Saturday afternoon, and get your picture taken with the Argos, with all proceeds going to charity. While walking around the show step up and take the Kim Whaley-Hilts dart challenge, running throughout the show. Canada's #1 ranked women's dart player will be setting the standard each day, and it will be up to you to beat her score. All proceeds raised during the challenge will help Kim with her travel expenses as she competes around the world in gaining points for maintaining, and improving on her #17 world ranking.

Sunday is our traditional Family Day. Fun activities are planned throughout the day as kids and parents alike, are sure to have a great time. Children will be able to put their carpentry skills to work in building their own keepsake from the show. A special thanks goes out to Rona for sponsoring this great project.

When its time to take a rest, or when getting ready to take in a speaker, head to ECafe in the center of the Yardman Arena. They will be offering a variety of delectable sweets, rich fragrant coffees, teas and juices. I'm sure you'll find the perfect snack to get you energized for the rest of your visit.
